The opinion of Aventure Nordique
The Ascendent 13 from Deuter is a lightweight trail or hiking pack. Its low weight and fully adjustable vest shape make it a comfortable and ergonomic backpack. This bag has no frame to optimize its lightness, but a perforated foam, which slides into the back. Coupled with a breathable mesh fabric, it allows to fit the back morphology, to cushion the solid and angular objects placed in the bag and offers good ventilation.
The strength of this bag is its well thought out and practical compartmentalization. In the large 13-liter pocket, which is accessible through a zipper that covers three quarters of the bag, there are four storage compartments, including one for a three-liter water pouch.
On the outside of the bag, on the two shoulder straps, there are pockets for soft water bottles, a pocket for sticks combined with an elastic tightening and under the left arm, a zipped mesh pocket for a phone or a snack. On the sides, two small elastic side pockets complete the package.
One of the key elements that we look for in a trail or running bag is certainly its fit and comfort. Its vest shape gives it a good hold and the compression elastics adapt to all morphologies efficiently. Adjustable crossed elastics come to marry the shape of your size. Two removable sternum belts prevent excessive friction. Finally, a small drawstring allows you to compress your belongings inside the large pocket to distribute the load more evenly.
