The New River 60-100 from the Swiss brand Bach is the ultimate backpack for extreme expeditions. It is robust, waterproof and comfortable even when heavily loaded. It is designed to withstand greater loads than it is possible to carry. With a weight of 3.2 kg, it is modular, each element can be removed if necessary, to save weight. The top flap is equipped with shoulder straps, folded into a pocket, which allow it to be converted into an additional backpack.

Robust, it is entirely made of 1000D Cordura fabric, making it extremely resistant to abrasion and tearing. The YKK zippers, nylon straps and buckles have also been chosen for their high resistance to ensure a reliable backpack, whatever the conditions of use. Parts, such as belt clips, have been tested down to -40°C. The New River 60-100 has been designed to remain reliable, even in tough conditions.

The interior is equipped with a second removable tubular bag. Made of Cordura 210D Oxford TPU Liner and secured with a zipper, it makes the New River 60-100 waterproof. Three compression straps that attach to the outside of the bag are provided to securely hold the bag in place. The flap offers one small and two large storage pockets for easy access.

The backpack is equipped with Bach's M.A.D. Lite carrying system, capable of providing comfortable carrying even when heavily loaded. It consists of a taut net and open-pored foam for good ventilation and optimum comfort, and a back plate made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Curved aluminium rails running the full height of the backpack contribute to the support and rigidity of the backpack. The belt is made of several of two layers of EVA foam, an open-pored PU foam and is stiffened with an HDPE panel.

The volume of the New River 60-100 backpack consists of :

• Two outside pockets on the top of the flap, zip closure.


• One inside pocket on the bottom of the flap, zip closure.


• A large waterproof main volume accessible from the top, zipped roll-up closure.


• An internal compartment for the water pocket.

The top of the backpack has an extension for a use with its maximum volume.
