The Ember -1C/30F from Sea To Summit is a quilt, i.e. a sleeping bag open at the back. It's designed to be wrapped around your mattress, which provides insulation at ground level. In Regular size, it's filled with 350 grams of 850 cuin European goose down, with Ultra Dry Down treatment for greater resistance in wet conditions. It weighs 545 grams and has a comfort temperature of 4°C.
The Ember -1C/30F sleeping bag can be used in several ways:
- As a quilt attached to a mattress using the straps supplied.
- As a large comforter when fully unfolded.
- As a blanket wrapped around yourself for bivouacs.
- Attached to a Sea To Summit sleeping bag featuring the QuiltLock system, to increase the comfort temperature.
Sea To Summit has opted for different padding for the body's essential zones, optimizing insulation:
- Vertical padding on the torso to prevent the down from shifting.
- Horizontal padding on the bottom to minimize the weight of the sleeping bag.
To achieve such a low weight, the envelope is made of a very fine 10-denier nylon fabric with H-shaped compartments and no hood. Straps are adjustable to fit all mattresses, and elastic cords close the quilt at the neck and feet.
