Big Agnes Copper Spur HV3 Expedition

The Copper Spur HV3 Expedition from Big Agnes is a heavy duty tent. It is an intermediate tent offering almost 4 season protection for the weight of a 3 season, 3+ season. It is well suited to destinations with difficult weather conditions, where the wind can be violent even in summer, as well as for an introduction to winter bivouacking, while still having a lightweight tent.

The flysheet is made from durable, high-tenacity rip-stop polyester fabric with exceptional resistance to tearing, UV and temperature/humidity fluctuations, making it ideal for high altitude conditions. It is silicone treated and polyurethane coated to withstand a 1200 millimetre water column. All seams are sealed with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape. The floor is made of Taffeta nylon, with a 10,000 mm waterproof polyurethane coating.

Velcro tabs connect the canopy to the DAC Featherlite NSL aluminium frame for perfect pitching. The double Dyneema guy ropes provide extra stability and strength in strong winds. Internal guy loops are also available to reinforce the structure. The Copper Spur HV3 Expedition comes with 10 large DAC aluminium J-poles and the loops are reinforced and oversized for use with skis, ice axes, poles, etc.

Inside, the tent has plenty of room and storage space: head pocket, 3D mezzanine pocket above the feet, multimedia pocket for routing the cord of electronic devices. Ventilation is provided by mesh windows, which can be closed, on the interior doors. The double-roof is fitted with high ventilation windows to maximise airflow and limit condensation.
