The Alpine AscentShell Bivy from Outdoor Research is a lightweight, waterproof and breathable bivy bag. Its fabric combines the strength of Pertex with the breathability of AscentShell. This membrane protects you from moisture, rain and is breathable.
The advantage of the Alpine AscentShell Bivy is that it can be put on quickly and is very protective. It is an interesting alternative to a tent or tarp. It's quick and easy to put up (1 hooded hoop), then you just slip your sleeping bag inside.
It has a protective hood and a removable mosquito net at the opening. Depending on the weather, you can use it in :
- Waterproof door: for complete protection
- Mosquito net door: for sleeping with your head "under the stars" and to optimise air circulation
A small hoop keeps the hood at a height of about 50 cm above your head. The bivy has 3 fixing points: 2 points of attachment to the ground and 1 point of attachment for a guy rope.
