The opinion of Aventure Nordique
The South Pole 2 Polar by Barents Outdoor is lightweight. It is designed specifically for polar and winter conditions and was specially developed as part of Karen Kyllesø's preparation for her polar goal: to become the youngest person to reach the South Pole on foot solo. Tested and adjusted, it enabled her to set off safely from the Union Glacier base in November 2024.
Although the South Pole 2 tent is ideal for winter stays, it is also perfect for spring, summer, and fall. It has two entrances and a fully openable front for optimal ventilation and easy access.
The South Pole 2 tent is quick and easy to set up, with the inner tent and outer tent deploying simultaneously. This simplifies setup and prevents the inner tent from getting damp in wet weather.
This 4-season tent has numerous guy lines and snow skirts to reinforce the tent's stability in windy conditions. It is equipped with openings to facilitate ventilation inside.
Barents chose robust materials for the design of this model:
- Two 11 mm Yunan Pressfit aluminum poles. Poles of the same length make assembly and any repairs easier.
 - 40-denier Ripstop nylon fabric with a waterproof rating of 5000 mm for the flysheet and 70-denier Ripstop polyester with a water column of 10,000 mm. These fabrics offer high UV resistance and good stability in all weather conditions and temperatures.
