The opinion of Aventure Nordique
The Futura XP is manufactured in Crispi's Italian factory in Montebelluna. They are the latest generation of Nordic Backcountry Xplore skiboots designed for modern backcountry use. They feature the Xplore sole and SpringPin technology: inserts integrated into the sole of the shoes that connect to the Rottefella Xplore bindings.
Crispi Futura Xplore shoes combine tradition and modernity. They borrow the look of a full-grain leather hiking boot, while featuring Xplore inserts, a Gore-Tex membrane and comfortable Instant-Fit footwear.
This is not just an accumulation of superlatives, but real assets for Nordic Backcountry:
- The Xplore sole and spring insert mechanism allow the feet to roll off naturally, offering a good directional control/stability ratio.
- The full-grain natural leather upper ensures waterproofing, breathability and durability of the outer shell. Easy to care for.
- Gore-Tex membrane enhances waterproof-breathability.
- Instant-fit design ensures comfort and anatomical fit.
- Lace-up tightening system ensures a precise fit.
- Sewn-in stone guards all around the shoe ensure long-term durability.
- A notched sole for walking on snow and snow-covered sections.

I have not received the Futura XP yet but am compelled to mention that I have heard rumors that Crispi would have a boot out with the xplore sole in 2023 and so here they are. The Stetind GTX BCNNN is thee most comfortable boot on the planet. So being from the states, where you finding Crispi Nordic boots is near impossible, I seek them out wherever. Amazingly, Crispi IT website does not list the new boot so the first time I saw them in full bloom and in stock was here. Yes I have converted to the xplore system and probably not returning to bcnnn system. The one flaw that the Stetind GTX had was the bar after a year or two use would start to wiggle around a bit. My communication with the Montebelluna crew over the years has been hit and miss and have loved getting a one or two sentence reply from those finest of fine leather boot makers encouraging them to go XP. SO GLAD to see they did and can’t wait to receive them. Thanks Adventure Nordique for your great service.
