The Cyalume ChemLight is a 15-centimeter glow stick developed for military use as a tactical light. The light is activated with a simple motion—by bending and shaking the stick.

The ChemLight glow stick provides reliable 360° illumination. It is waterproof, buoyant, and visible from up to one nautical mile (approximately 1.6 kilometers). It produces no heat, flame, gas, or sparks; it is non-flammable and non-toxic (phthalate-free). It produces no heat, flame, gas, or sparks.
The duration of illumination depends on the stick’s color:

Green, red, yellow, and orange: 12 hours

White and blue: 8 hours

The ChemLight glow stick is an emergency item that you should keep in your backpack, bike bag, car, boat, or elsewhere. In an emergency, it keeps you visible for about ten hours so that emergency responders can locate you.
