The Deuter Little Star is a sleeping bag designed for children between 95 cm and 130 cm tall. It has a comfort temperature of approximately 8°C (see note below).
It is filled with synthetic fibres (hollow-fibre polyester). These fibres have the advantage of being hypoallergenic: your child is unlikely to develop any allergic reactions! (unlike with goose or duck down filling). This filling is warm, compressible and dries quickly.
It has side zips on both sides, making it easier to tuck the baby inside and, for older children, allowing them to get in by themselves. Any adult who has ever tried to put their child into a sleeping bag (no mean feat!!) will readily understand that this double zip is essential.
One of the Little Star’s main advantages is that it is extendable: it can grow with your toddler, as the zip extension at the foot end allows the length of the sleeping bag to be increased by 30 cm.

The European standard EN13537, which is used to assess a sleeping bag’s comfort temperature, does not apply to children’s models. As children are more sensitive to the cold, it is normal for a children’s sleeping bag to have greater insulation than an adult model, for the same recommended temperature range. This takes into account that the child will be wearing pyjamas and may vary depending on their age, build and sensitivity. Be careful and always allow for a safety margin. Deuter does not specify temperatures for its sleeping bags. In our experience, you can use them down to around 8°C. |
