The Rossignol XP 85 Positrack is a versatile Nordic touring ski designed for free skiing off-piste. Its Positrack scale base offers an excellent compromise between grip and glide, providing good traction on climbs.

The sidecut is interesting because it is neither too wide nor too narrow, allowing the ski to adapt to all types of terrain, whether on long flat sections or more rugged slopes. With the XP 85, you can do it all! It has an effective anti-recoil system, full-length metal edges, and a base that ensures good flotation in deep snow.

The dual skin attachment system is another advantage of these backcountry skis. You can opt for full skins for optimal grip, or half skins that attach to the connector on the topsheet. Skins are sold separately.

Technically, this ski features several technologies:

Activ'Cap: balance between torsional rigidity and flexible flex from tip to tail, for stability in all conditions.

Low-density LDC core and fiber reinforcements.

Tail protector: protection against impacts at the base of the ski.

Tip notch compatible with full R-Skin skins (not included).

Notches compatible with R-Skin half skins (not included).

Positrack base: no waxing required, offers the ideal compromise between kick and glide on all types of snow

We chose the XP 85 for its versatility and all-around profile. It retains edge grip for straight gliding on flat terrain while offering good directional control on descents. You can easily consider this ski for day trips as well as Nordic touring.

Although the Positrack anti-backslide system offers solid grip, adding climbing skins is advised for longer ascents. Choose full-length skins if you carry a pulk or heavy load, or half-skins if you prefer a balance between traction and glide (sold separately). Size selection: with this type of wide backcountry ski, it’s best to choose a length 5 to 10 cm shorter than your height, or at most equal to your height, to maintain good control and maneuverability off-track.
