The Salomon Outside 82 Grip are Nordic touring skis designed to get out of the tracks, where the snow is virgin and the terrain changeable. The design, i.e. both the construction and the sidecut, offers good flotation in soft snow. The rocker keeps you afloat and out of hollows. The 82 mm width provides stability on descents.
The cambered profile and Posigrip flake system provide effective grip on ascents, limiting the need for skins on moderate slopes. On hilly terrain, they make it easy to alternate between progression and gliding.
Salomon's Outside 82s are made from a wood core with plastic reinforcements and a fiberglass shell. They are equipped with a sturdy sole, scales (embossed patterns) that act as an anti-recoil system, and steel edges that enhance stability.
The advantage of this model is the Rocker, which optimizes adaptation to the terrain, in hollows and deep snow, making it easier to launch turns.
Technically, the tip is made from recycled ABS and cork. Salomon has chosen to make its Topsheet relatively transparent to reveal the wood-core structure. A notch in the tip allows you to attach a pair of integral skins (sold separately).
Points to remember
Light, playful skis that are easy to ski and good on all types of terrain. The intermediate width is compensated by maneuverability and rocker.
