The opinion of Aventure Nordique
The Switchback Cable bindings are designed specifically for Nordic ski touring. They provide optimal foot release. These bindings feature the Switchback front toe piece and a rear cable system. They are specially designed for 75-mm standard leather boots. This design allows for precise adjustment, a very smooth stride, quick transitions on hilly terrain, and optimal support during descents.
On the front of the binding, a simple flick of the switch puts the binding into free-pivoting touring mode. There’s no need to remove the cable or wrap it around the heel. It provides a simple and smooth transition between ascents and descents.
Compared to the 3-pin Voile cable, the Switchback cable offers a more efficient stride while touring and faster mode changes. On the other hand, it is heavier and provides slightly more neutral behavior on descents.
You can adjust the flexibility by changing the cable tension. The Switchback cable is designed specifically for compatible 75 mm leather boots, such as the Crispi Svartisen 75 and certain Alico models. It is not suitable for plastic-shell boots (Scarpa T4) or boots with narrower toe boxes (Alpina Alaska 75).
